Each year, the CNRS awards a bronze medal to early-career researchers in recognition of the excellence and potential of their work. In 2025, Sham Tlili, a research fellow at the IBDM, was one of 46 recipients.
Trained as a physicist, Sham Tlili explores the physical laws governing the formation of living tissues, in particular through the study of gastruloids – embryonic models derived from mouse stem cells. Combining microscopy, modeling and image analysis, she deciphers how these tissues self-organize to give form and function to future organs.
This interdisciplinary approach, at the crossroads of mechanics, biology and statistical physics, enables her to reveal the invisible forces that sculpt living organisms. This original and ambitious scientific approach has now been recognized by this medal, which represents both recognition and encouragement to pursue her innovative research.
