Our missions
The Marseille Developmental Biology Institute (IBDM), overseen by the CNRS (National Scientific Research Centre) and the AMU (Aix-Marseille University), hosts about twenty teams whose research is primarily oriented towards the understanding of how an embryo develops in an adult organism. The teams aim, in particular, at exploring how defects during this process may occur and initiate various pathologies. By investigating how such aberrations may be corrected, we provide keys for therapeutic interventions. Our results lead to patents, and some of our researchers are founders of start-up.
The IBDM also has the mission to train the future generation of researchers. To this end, our laboratories welcome a large number of students for internships or PhDs, as well as young researchers (post-docs), from all over the world.
