Missions : In the “Local Translation in Axonal Regeneration” team, we study the molecular mechanisms underlying the regenerative capacity of damaged neurons. We focus on the processes that regulate gene expression, particularly the control of mRNA translation into proteins—an essential step in regeneration (Schaeffer et al., Neuron, 2023). A major focus of our research is to understand how neurons locally regulate gene expression in axons through local ribosome recruitment and local mRNA translation. The successful candidate will set up real-time imaging tools to analyze the dynamics of translation in regenerating axons, based on a previously optimized ex vivo culture model (Schaeffer et al., Frontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2020).
12-month contract with possibility of renewal.
